Oren Goble

December 30, 1937 — December 3, 2018

Oren Lee Goble, 80, died peacefully at his home in Nixa, Missouri, on December 3, 2018, after a brief illness. Oren was humorously known to his close friends as "Oren Lee Goble from Crane Missouri" and "BIG O" because he was always BIGGER THAN LIFE. He was born on December 30, 1937, in Wichita, Kansas, to parents Oren Claude Goble and Lora Lee McCullah Goble. He was raised in Crane by his mother and step-father, William Alfred (W.A.) Peters, as well as a host of close family members, most notably his Uncle Tootie and Aunt Allene Parsons, who were a very significant part of his life. Oren graduated from Crane High School in 1955 and studied for a couple of years at Drury University. Oren married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Darline White, on March 4, 1956. They have one daughter, Lisa Darline Goble Galentine, and one son, William Scott Goble. They raised their family throughout northern Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri, settling in Springfield, Missouri, in 1971. Oren started Win-Vent, Inc. in 1974. Win-Vent was a renowned and very successful commercial window manufacturing business serving all areas of the Midwest and Atlantic seaboard. Win-Vent closed in the early nineties shortly after Oren suffered a mild stroke. The business was sold and is still in operation under new ownership today. The employees of Win-Vent loved Oren and a quote from a long time employee in a newspaper interview, "He's just the greatest boss - we all love him," resonates to this day. Oren is preceded in death by his loving wife, Sandra Goble, who passed in 2007. Oren is survived by his daughter, Lisa Galentine (Jack), and grandsons, Eric St. John (Victoria) and Alec St. John. Oren is also survived by his son, Scott Goble, granddaughter, Sarah Goble, and great granddaughter, Sarah's child Sawyer Renea Goble. Oren is also survived by half-brother Charlie Peters, sister-in-law Guyla Armstrong (Jon), sister-in-law Sheila White, and numerous cousins. Oren loved dogs and lovingly raised many throughout his years. In lieu of flowers, if one feels like doing something kind in his memory, he would appreciate a small donation to the Springfield Humane Society in his name. No funeral services are planned, although this obituary can be found on the Adams Funeral Home webpage https://www.adamsfuneralhome.net/obituaries/. A wake will be held to celebrate Oren's life on Saturday, December 15, at the Queen City Wine Dive, 105 Park Central Square, Springfield, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Friends, family, and business acquaintances are welcome to stop by and share a story and a memory. Wine, beer, and light food provided.
