Norman Nile Russell, age 85, of Ozark, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017, in Springfield. He was born January 10, 1932 in Dora, Missouri, the son of Robert and Haley (Smith) Russell. The family lived in western states before returning to this area. Norman attended school in Nixa. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Norman was a carpenter by trade, and had also worked at Fasco in Ozark, and MFA. He had a knack for working on large equipment and enjoyed getting machines in working order. He was a gifted home builder and was always looking forward to the next challenge.
Several years ago Norman was baptized in Bull Creek by Pastor Bob Long.
Survivors include: His nephew Stephen Scott of Springfield; and four nieces and their families, Laura Fullington and husband Frank and their children, Russell and Issac of Springfield, Jennifer Crandall and her son Hunter of Buffalo, Missouri, Andrea Givens and husband Derrick and their children, Gabrielle and William of Springfield, and Crystal Donaldson and husband Justin, and their son Evan of Sidney, Illinois
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Rubilee Scott and Connie Jean Strickland, and his longtime companion, Wilda Applegate.
A graveside funeral will be 1:00 PM Friday, December 15, in Temple Hill Cemetery, Bruner, with full military honors. Visitation will be 10:00 AM until noon on Friday in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
