Nona F Sellers, 89, of Nixa Missouri passed away peacefully on June 24, 2021. She is preceded in death by her husband Walter Sellers, both parents, brother Bill Sexton, brother Claude Jr. and brother-in-law Elliott “Red” Johnson. She is survived by her sister Mona Johnson of Shelby North Carolina, sister in law Avadell Sexton of Lawton, OK, Children Deb Broadway, husband Mark, and Kay Semans. Grandchildren Magen Felten, Joshua Broadway, wife Jessica, Aaron Semans, Daryl Semans, wife Kellee, Casey Broadway, wife Marquita, 8 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her dogs Wally and Oreo.
Nona was born on July 5, 1931 in Lawton Oklahoma to Claude and Hazel Sexton. She married Walter Sellers in 1951 and attended Oklahoma College for Women graduating with a degree in education in 1958. She worked in education for 35 years specializing in teaching the deaf, speech therapy and elementary school.
Nona enjoyed card making, people watching, nature, traveling and her family. She was a lifelong member of the church of Christ where she volunteered at the pantry, enjoyed women’s luncheon and going to church camp outs.
A celebration of life will be celebrated with visitation at 10 o’clock and a memorial service at 11 o’clock at Union Hill church of Christ in Nixa Missouri Tuesday, July 6, 2021, with minister Steve Martin and Joe Bright officiating. A family graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. that day at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
