Neva Ivonne Morrison Sowards, age 92 of Sparta, passed away October 10, 2015. She was born August 25, 1923 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the daughter of George Washington and Laura Ethel (Pruett) Thompson.
Neva was united in marriage to Oren Morrison in 1937.
Neva enjoyed crocheting, gardening and raising flowers, spending time with her grandchildren and making her famous cinnamon rolls.
Neva had been a member of Union Hill Baptist Church for more than 60 years.
Survivors include: her children, Phyllis and Don Brumley, Ozark, Marie and Buzz Essary, Taneyville, Janis and Charles Huff, Rogersville, Margie and Larry Mitchell, Garrison, Linda and Walter Smith, Sparta and Kelly Morrison, Sparta; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and17 great great grandchildren; and a brother, Donald and Thompson and wife Virginia, Sparta.
Neva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oren Morrison; her second husband, Roy Sowards; a son, Ermal Ray Morrison; three great grandchildren, Chancey Cobb, Brodie Bettis and Alisha; three brothers, Carl, Ray and Wayne Thompson; and two sisters, Fay and Wanda.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow in Old Boston Cemetery, Sparta. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
