Narva Hilda Higdon

Narva (Crites) Higdon, age 102, of Strafford, passed to Heaven February 17, 2017. She was born May 2, 1914 in Sedgewickville, Missouri, the daughter of Warren and Mollie Crites. Narva married Charles Wendell Higdon in 1934 and had two children: Sylvia Maxine and Charles Wendell Jr. Narva accepted Christ as her personal Savior as a young lady and was active in her Baptist churches. She especially enjoyed working with nursery age children. Her husband preceded her in death in 1991 as did three brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Alford, and son and daughter-in-law Chuck and Ann Higdon. She also had 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Narva was an expert quilter, a truly fabulous cook, and loved to travel. She was a caring person who never failed to help a friend or family member when needed. As a mother and grandmother, it would be hard to find a better one. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 21, in North Nixa Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Francisco officiating. Burial will follow in Holland Cemetery, Rogersville. Memorial contributions may be sent to Strafford Care Center, 505 W. Evergreen, Strafford, MO 65757. This is where she lived and received excellent care for the past 7 years, and formed a close relationship with her friend, Carmen.
