Naomi Kathleen Kniffin

August 14, 1928 — July 16, 2013

Naomi Kathleen Kniffin, age 84, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at home after a long illness. She was born August 14, 1928, in Stella, Nebraska, the daughter of Charles Myron and LaVonne Lucille (Hill) Harrison. Naomi grew up in Nebraska until she was 16 and her family moved to the Kansas City area. She graduated from Shawnee Mission Rural High School and attended Park College for two years. In 1947, she met her husband, Lohren "Vic"� Kniffin, on a blind date, and they were united in marriage on October 19, 1948. Naomi and Vic were married for fifty-seven years before he preceded her in death in 2006. They resided in Shawnee, Kansas, until 1999 when they moved to Ozark. Naomi was a retired homemaker, and also a piano teacher and manager of a fabric store for a number of years. The most important work of her life though was being a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a wonderful woman who took great pride in her family and was well liked by all who met her, and she will be greatly missed by family and friends. Naomi loved to sew, crochet, do genealogy, crossword puzzles, and flower gardening, and watch birds. Survivors include: three sons and their wives, Gordon and Rosemary Kniffin, New Braunfels, Texas; Bruce and Sherry Kniffin, Henderson, Nevada; and Fred and Pam Kniffin, San Antonio, Texas; and a daughter, Barbara Kniffin, Ozark, Missouri. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Ashley Lofties, and husband, Matt, Thornton, Colorado; Blake Kniffin, Hermitage, Tennessee; Tracey Kniffin, Lexington, Kentucky; Mary Kathleen Kniffin, New Braunfels, Texas; and Andrew Kniffin, Pensacola, Florida; two great-grandchildren: Alexa and Grayson Lofties, Thornton, Colorado; two sisters, Diane Hall, Lawrence, Kansas; Thalia Eads, and husband, Bill, Green Valley, Arizona; one brother, Martin Harrison, and wife, Carol, San Francisco, California; one sister-in-law, Doris Kniffin, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother Ronald Harrison; and sister, Jan Hopper. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow in Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation will be from 10 - 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home before the service.
