Nancy Ann Sperry Haguewood received God's greatest gift of eternal life on December 25,
2015. She was born in Springfield on January 21, 1932, the second child of Louise Patterson
Sperry & Elton Greenfield Sperry.
A 1949 graduate of Springfield High School, Nancy was very proud of being a member of the
Kilties, a marching drum corp. Nancy's senior year the Kilties participated in a parade at Bolivar, MO honoring President Truman and President Gallegos of Venezuela. Nancy was musically
talented and sang in the Junior-Senior Choir both years.
After graduation from SHS, Nancy entered Drury College where she was a member of Kappa
Delta sorority, member of the French Club and on the yearbook staff. Following her junior year
she married John Dale Haguewood of Ozark. They owned and operated Hixson Drug Store
along with Flo and Ford Haguewood, John's parents.
Nancy and John were the parents of two sons, Mark and Steven. They attended all of their
scholastic and athletic events. Both boys were in Boy Scouts and Nancy assisted with scouting
activities as well.
John and Nancy always had funny stories to tell and their home was the life of the party where
family and friends always felt welcome. During the summer their pool was the "place to be."
Everyone was blessed to be able to partake of Nancy's exceptional culinary skills and sitting at
her table was indeed a treat.
Nancy was an active member of King's Way Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School
for a number of years. While living in Ozark, she taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church
and later was the organist at First Methodist Church.
Survivors are her two sons, Mark and wife Martha of Fayetteville, AR and Steven and wife Cathy
of Tulsa, OK. She was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren, Jonathan Haguewood and
wife Lacy of Kingwood, TX, Amanda Haguewood Padgett and husband Mitch Padgett of Rogers,
AR, Lindsey Haguewood and Lauren Haguewood both of Tulsa. She is also survived by one
great-grandchild, Remy Haguewood of Kingwood, TX. Nancy is also survived by her life-long
friend, Barbara Jones of Broken Arrow, OK, her sister-in-law, Virginia Sperry of Yukon, OK, other
