Mrylene Stevens Jarmin, Born December 31, 1930 passed away in her home March 22, 2016. She married her beloved Glen Jarmin, December 16, 1955.
She received an Education BS Degree from Kansas State Teachers College, Pittsburg Kansas and taught elementary school for 42 years. She retired from Eugene Field Elementary Springfield, MO, in 1989.
She was a member of Ozark United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband Glen Jarmin of Ozark, Mo: sisters Margie Smith, and Minden Mines, MO; Thama Goddard, Everton, MO; LaVeda Beebe, of Prince George, British Columbia; Della Rezen of Parkville, MO; and a brother Dan Stevens of Pittsburg, Kansas.Other family members include several nieces and nephews including Tarese Loveland who lived close. Mrylene was preceded in death by her brother Doyle Stevens and sister Vera Watts.
Mrylene graduated from Pittsburg, High School, May 1948, and started summer session at Kansas State College, Pittsburg, the last year on could begin teaching after one session in the rural schools of Kansas. She taught three years at Opolis, a one teacher district, followed by five years teaching grades one, two, three and four in the nearly Beaulah district. She attended college a total of eleven years when she received the degree of Bachelor of Science in education. After that she continued until she had taught in elementary schools forty two years, in Carthage Missouri, Lawrence Kansas, and the last 21 sixth grade at Eugene Field Elementary, Springfield, MO.
Myrlene loved music, fishing and travel, including her four trips to Alaska. The memories brought her great joy. She brought her family and friends great joy.
Graveside Services will be held at Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, MO, 11:00 A.M. Thursday March 24, 2016. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 7:30 P.M. Wednesday March 23, 2016 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, MO. Online condolences may be made at www.adamsfuneralhome.net.
