N. Morris Payne, 81, formerly of Ozark, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017. He was born at home in the Selmore Community March 28, 1936, the son of Neal and Glessa (Stewart) Payne. He was a 1954 graduate of Ozark High School. Morris served his country in the U.S. Army, spending 13 months in Korea. On April 4, 1958, he and Charlotte A. Fausett were married.
Morris lived on the family farm where he pursued his passion of farming. Before his retirement from Lily Tulip/Sweetheart Cup in 1998, he and Charlotte moved from the farm to Springfield in 1996,then joined their daughter in Sun City, Arizona last year. Morris was a member of Selmore Christian Church. As a Shriner, he was a member of Friend Lodge #352, Scottish Rite of Joplin, and Abou Ben Adhem Temple.
Survivors include his beloved wife and daughter, Charlotte and Rondi Payne; cousins; other extended family and many friends.
A memorial service will be 12:00 noon, July 8, at Selmore Christian Church south of Ozark. Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery, with Masonic Services and Military Honors. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
