Mildred Joyce McDaniel

Mildred Joyce (Vandeventer) McDaniel, born on November 21, 1915, to William L. Vandeventer and Cora E. (Casey) Vandeventer in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012. The family moved to Ozark, Missouri where she graduated from Ozark High School in 1933. She then moved to Springfield, attended SMS, and later graduated from Draughan"�s Business College as a legal secretary, working in her father"�s law office for two years. She worked for five years in the Christian County Soil Conservation office. Mildred was married on August 4, 1941, to Carl K. McDaniel, and together they established McDaniel Furs, and a Bridal and Formal shop. They operated the business for almost thirty years together before retiring. She was a member of East Sunshine Church of Christ, formerly South National Church of Christ, for more than fifty years. She was an avid reader. Mildred is survived by a daughter, Carla J. McDaniel, a nephew, James L. Vandeventer, his wife, Sharon, and a great-niece, Casey Vandeventer, all of Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lancy W. Vandeventer, and many much loved cousins. By her request, the body has been cremated. Burial will be in Ozark Cemetery. No service is planned.
