Michael Riley Hanks, age 77, of Ozark, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017. He was born March 24, 1940, in Springfield, the son of Truman and Cecile (Riley) Hanks. Mike was a 1959 graduate of Parkview High School. In 1965 he and Dorothy Sue Archer were married.
Throughout his working career, Mike worked as a lab technician for area dentists. He was baptized into the First Baptist Church of Springfield. He later moved his membership to the Second Baptist Church. He was most recently a member of First Baptist Church Ozark, where he enjoyed serving as usher and greeter. Mike studied God's word and read his bible daily. He delighted in his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: His wife of 52 years, Dorothy; three children, Carol Marlatt and husband Greg of Springfield, Steve Hanks of Maryland, and Kathy Newman and husband Gary of New Mexico; five grandchildren, Amanda Meacham and husband Adam, Truman Hanks, Madeline Newman, Lena Newman, and Weston Marlatt; two great-grandchildren, Rowan and Juliette Meacham; a sister, Linda Lindsay of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 6, at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark with Chris Thixton officiating. Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Wednesday until service time.
