There are so many facets of Michael's life. Michael Roger Walker was born October 7th, 1951 to Hugo and Geneva (King) Walker, in Los Angeles, CA. Michael passed away Friday, May 30th, 2014, at the age of 62, in his home in Ozark. On September 18, 1994, Michael was united in marriage to Shelley Franks.
He was born and raised in beautiful Southern California, the youngest of four Children, in which the older three say he was spoiled rotten! Their parents would say no to all but Michael. He did what he pleased, and if he got in trouble for it, in his opinion it was worth it! None the less he grew to be an admirable man who knew how to treat a lady and his wit made memories with everyone he knew.
When he turned eighteen he joined the Navy and stayed for a substantial twenty year, traveling the world in a nuclear submarine. He saw many wars, but luckily was involved in few. Upon retiring from the Navy, he started the next 20 years of his life as a newly married man, and as a clerk at our local United States Post Office. His work ethics were such that almost every year he had perfect attendance. Whenever someone called in he could be counted on to fill in. He and his co-workers made lots of memories together which will be passed around for years to come.
He was a very good man and a devoted husband. He aided in raising two step sons one of whom is in the Navy following in his footsteps. The other grew up to be a good man, husband and father in which we are very proud. Michael is and will be missed greatly by everyone that knows him. Michael, until we meet again.
Michael is survived by his wife, Shelley; two step sons Jesse Marshall and his wife Tina, of Hendersonville, TN, and Nathanial Marshall, of Honolulu Naval Station, HI; a sister Linda Godana, of California; and grandchildren Marquis, Addicus, and Meica Marshall, of Beaumont, TX.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild Corbon; and brothers Larry and Jerry Walker.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. A graveside service will be held following the visitation, at 1:00 PM, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield,
