Michael Ross

March 6, 1934 — February 26, 2017

Michael L. Ross, 82, of Springfield, MO, passed away Sunday, February 26 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. Born March 6, 1934 in Syracuse, NY, he was the foster son of the late Marvin and Eileen Tabor of Chestertown. He was united in marriage to Rose Mary (Russell) Ross on April 5, 1958. Mike proudly served his country with the United States Marines during the Korean War in 1951 and honorably discharged in 1954. He was self-employed as a logger and construction contractor. His greatest joys were being on Golden Meadows Farm where he raised Shetland ponies and later Morgan show horses. Mike's passions were operating his equipment and landscaping his farm he was proud of. After retiring he and Rose Mary traveled to many places that they always wanted to see, one being the Redwood Forest. He is survived by his wife Rose Mary of 58 years; his beloved Sheltie, Lacey; his 7 children, Kathleen Monroe (Chuck) of Chestertown, Nancy Smith of Brant Lake, Laurie Grinnell (Bill) of Ticonderoga, Michael Ross Jr (Michelle) of Chestertown, Matthew Ross (Cindy) of Chestertown, Judy Simpson (Matthew) of Brant Lake and Daniel Ross (Shauna) of Schroon Lake; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. His family would like to extend a special thank you to Stephanie with Hospice Compassus for the special care that they provided. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home, in Ozark, MO.
