Michael Ray Carpenter, age 66, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021. He was born October 11, 1954, the son of Merlin Jay and Norma Fay (Koinzan) Carpenter. Mike graduated from Montezuma-Cortez High School in Cortez, Colorado. Following High School he relocated with his family to the Springfield area. On February 24, 1978 he and Kimberly Carol Braden were united in marriage in Springfield.
Mike worked for Zenith for 13 years before owning and operating Mike’s Auto Repair. Even after retirement in 2011, he continued to work on cars and always had a project in progress. His family and especially his grandkids were a source of joy in his life. He also enjoyed Cardinal Baseball, and traveling with Kim and Mike’s canine companion, Roxey.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Kim; three sons, Michael Carpenter and Bailey of Wichita, Kansas, Matthew Carpenter and Tara of Nixa, and James Brown and Jenny of Arlington, Tennessee; grandchildren Austin, Claire and Charlee Carpenter, Connor Carpenter, and Ella and Daxton Bomar; his father Merlin Carpenter and wife, Debbie; siblings, Patricia Hudson and Jerry, David Carpenter, Joyce Ward and Roy, and Juanita Angelo and David; mother-in-law, Frances Braden; brothers-in-law Greg Braden and Angela, and Steve Braden and Ann; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Carpenter, father-in-law, Manford Braden, and nieces Erica and Rachael Angelo.
A Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, October 14, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
