Merrill Joseph Staudt, age 92, of Nixa, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in his home. He was born October 26, 1925 in Marble Rock, Iowa, the son of Joseph Mark and Vera (Katcher) Staudt. In 1943 he graduated from high school in Marble Rock. He served his country as a Merchant Marine from 1943 until 1946 during World War II. He then served in the Army Reserves. On February 3, 1951 he and Marlene Joan Albertson were united in marriage in Roseville, Iowa.
Merrill farmed in Charles City, Iowa from 1947 - 1972. Moving to Missouri at that time, he farmed near Mountain Grove. Following retirement, he enjoyed playing golf with his sons. They also spent time fishing in Canada. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Nixa.
Survivors include: His wife, Marlene; seven children and their spouses, Joe and Pam Staudt, Tom and Jennifer Staudt, Tony and Betsy Staudt, John and Nancy Staudt, Mike and Pam Staudt, Timmy and Tammi Staudt, and Sue Ann and Brian Niehaus; a daughter-in-law, Jane Staudt; nineteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ray Staudt and wife Connie.
Merrill was preceded in death by a son, Rick Staudt; a grandson, Bryan Staudt, two brothers, three sisters, and his parents.
A Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 16, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Nixa. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Saturday until service time at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
