Melvin Houston Brooks, age 71, of Ozark, passed away Tuesday, December 15 2015. He was born November 28, 1944 in Hemstead, Texas, the son of Wilburn and Rosie Lee (Frey) Brooks. Melvin was a Springfield business man. He owned Brooks Plastering, Inc. He was a member of the Sertoma Club, Elks Lodge, Springfield Contractors Association, and Builders Association. He enjoyed motorcycle trips, NASCAR Racing, and was an avid Cowboys fan. On April 2, 2000 he and his wife, Kathy, were married.
Survivors include: His wife, Kathy; two children Debbie Duckworth and Mel Brooks Jr., both of Ozark; former wife, Linda Underwood of Marionville; a step-daughter Karyn Stiltner of Branson; two grandsons, Kevin Duckworth and Kyle Duckworth; a sister, Jean Adams; two aunts, Opal Adams and Freda Wendt; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 19, in Messiah Lutheran Church, 925 E. Seminole, Springfield. Visitation will be 7:30 - 9:00 PM Friday in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. A graveside funeral will be 11:00 AM Monday, December 21, in Frey Cemetery, Waller, Texas.
