September 21, 1921 — April 2, 2013

Melvin T. Bright, age 91, of Highlandville passed away in the home on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. He was born September 22, 1921, in Walters, Oklahoma, the son of Lee Roy Bright and Callie Beatrice (Reese) Bright. He was a proud member of the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving on the island of Okinawa. In 1940 he and Lucille Myers were united in a loving marriage which lasted 72 years. Melvin worked for Ingersoll Rand, and traveled around the world, building oil wells. Lucille was able to travel with her husband on many of the trips. Melvin retired in 1986 after a long rewarding career. Melvin and Lucille were very active in their church, and helped build the local churches. Survivors include: His beloved wife, Lucille; a daughter, Judith Ann Deans and husband Michael, Highlandville,; two grandchildren, Michael McGrath and wife Karen, and Lori Ann Burgos and husband Jorge; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey McGrath, Travis McGrath, Daniel Burgos and Alina Burgos; a brother Delvin Bright; a brother-in-law Del Goodin, nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Berta Fitzgerald, and Stella Jo Goodin, and two brothers Jimmy Bright, and Curtis Bright. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the First Assembly of God Church, Highlandville, with a short visitation before the service, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at the Spokane Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
