Melba "Donnie" Thompson

July 25, 1934 — February 8, 2017

Melba Nell "Donnie" Thompson, age 82 of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017. She was born July 25, 1934 in Bruner, the daughter of Roy and Eunice (Maupin) Travis. In 1949 she and Wayne Thompson were married. Donnie was a long time Bruner and Sparta resident. She had been employed by Hagale Garment Factory, and had also worked at a caf� in Sparta. Donnie was a member of Grandview Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and Cardinals Baseball. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: three daughters and their husbands, Judy and Truly Applegate of Springfield, Janet and Charles Oaks of Springfield, and Joyce and Ed Keithley of Ozark; a son, Michael Thompson of Fair Grove; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne in 1998, two sisters, Dorothy Jenkins and Helen Coday, and her parents. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 14, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow in Old Boston Cemetery, Oldfield. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 7:00 PM Monday in the funeral home.
