It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my oldest brother Matthew Monty Kohutek. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on 8/9/1973.
The Kohutek family moved to Denver Colorado in 1983, and Fountain area, in 1988. Matt attended Sabin Middle School and graduated from Widefield High School in 1991.
Throughout his youth, Matt was active in many social circles and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. After graduating high school, he briefly attended Brigham Young University-Idaho, before enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country.
In the late 1990s, Matt welcomed his son, Matthew, and in 1999 married Tamra, the love of his life. Together, they lived in Biloxi, Mississippi, and Savannah, Georgia, and ultimately settled in Nixa, Missouri.
Matt was a highly talented artist, especially skilled in pencil, graphite, and charcoal drawings. He was also passionate about board games and role-playing games. Known for his boisterous personality, larger-than-life laugh, and a strong opinion on nearly every topic, Matthew cherished time spent with friends and family, particularly during family dinners and holidays. He and Tamra were proud homeowners and took great joy in their community and beloved pets.
Over the last decade, Matt faced numerous health challenges, including battling Necrotizing Fasciitis, undergoing skin grafts, managing complications from diabetes, and enduring several periods of dialysis. Despite these trials, he exhibited remarkable strength and perseverance. He loved corresponding with friends around the world, continuing his artistic pursuits, and caring for his family.
At this time, no funeral arrangements have been made, though we will share details of a memorial service if and when they are available. We encourage all who knew Matthew—whether from his youth, our LDS congregation, or through his career—to reach out and share the news of his passing.
Matt will be dearly missed, and his memory will remain close forever.
Arrangements under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri. Cremation rites accorded to Adams Crematory.
