Mary Alice Wade, age 71, of Highlandville, passed away in her home Sunday, November 18, 2018. She was born January 30, 1947 in New York, New York, the daughter of Edward and Alleen (Dangerfield) Derham. The daughter of a career Air Force Officer, she grew up in Germany, Maine and New York. Mary Alice graduated from Rome Free Academy High School in Rome, New York. On October 30, 1965 she and Jim Wade were married in Fort Totten, New York. She received a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Computer Science from MSU in Springfield. In 2011 she retired from teaching. During her career Mary Alice taught at Spokane/Highlandville, Springfield, Nixa and MSU.
Mary Alice was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Ozark. She loved her family and enjoyed keeping busy with hobbies and activities.
Survivors include: Her husband, Jim; two sons, Tommy Wade and Debi of Ozark, and Doug Wade and Brenda of Rogersville; eleven grandchildren, Hilda, Hannah and husband Charlie, Kyle and wife Charley, Kory, Kyra and husband Justin, Lexie, Kenzie, Kolton, Kendra, Joshua and Reese; great-grandchildren, Joel, Jaxon, Brooklyn, Avalee, Laramie, and Annabelle. She was also looking forward to a great-grandchild on the way. Survivors also include siblings, Ruth Townsend of Tennessee, Eddie Derham and wife Joyce, of Georgia, DeeDee Tamminen and husband Bill, of Arizona, and Jimmy Derham and wife Sheila, of Virginia.
A funeral mass will be Wednesday, November 28 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church in Ozark. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time at the church. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
