Mary Therese Steensland

Mary Steensland, age 58, of Nixa, MO, formerly of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away March 14, 2013, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, due to multiple myeloma, a cancer of the blood plasma. Mary Therese Whitcomb was born in Sioux Falls August 16, 1954, to Theresa (Madden) and Donald K. Whitcomb. She graduated from O"�Gorman High School in 1972, and from Sioux Falls College in 1989 with a B.A. in business. She married Craig Steensland on August 4, 1995. They were blessed with daughters, Carolyn and Susan. Mary was also blessed with daughters, Kristin Ziebart and Rebekka Ziebart, from a previous marriage. Mary was employed at Spitznagel, Inc. (now TSP) and Southeast Technical, Sioux Falls, SD. Together, Mary and Craig published six community newspapers in South Dakota and one in Iowa, and three shoppers. Mary began her faith life at St. Joseph Cathedral Church in Sioux Falls, and continued at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Ozark, MO. There she taught 7th grade religion class, was a Lector at Sunday Mass, was vice president of the Parish Council of Catholic Women, served on the 50th Anniversary Committee, the building campaign committee, and played occasional piano for the church choir. Mary"�s greatest joy in life was her Catholic faith and her family, especially her husband Craig, and her four daughters. In spite of life"�s inevitable ups and downs, she always felt very blessed by God. Preceding Mary in death were her father, Donald Whitcomb in 1968, and her sister, Ann Jons in 2011. She is survived by her husband, Craig; her daughters: Kristin Ziebart (John Welsh, special friend), Rebekka (Fredricks) Ziebart, Carolyn and Susan Steensland; grandsons Adrian, Andrew and Luka Fredricks; her mother, Theresa Whitcomb; her siblings Sue McCoy, Don (Donna) Whitcomb and Margaux Madden; Eric Fredricks father of her grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 17, 2013, 2:00 "� 4:00 PM, Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, MO. Mass of the Resurrection at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Ozark, MO, at 4:00 PM, Monday, March 18, 2013. Burial will take place Thursday, March 21, 2013, at St. Michael"�s Catholic Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD. Memorials may be directed to the Building Fund at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 1796 N.
