Mary Florence Hooten Black

Mary F. (Hooten) Black, age 94, formerly of Purdy and Monett, went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2018. She was a resident of Ozark Riverview Manor. Mary was born October 20, 1924 in Exeter, Missouri and attended school there. She married William E. (Gene) Black who preceded her in death in 1995. Mary worked as a postal clerk in Purdy for many years until her retirement. She was an avid quilter, often giving them to her family. Mary was a member of Ozark 1st Freewill Baptist Church. Mary is survived by a son, Ronald E. Black and wife Vicki, Ozark; a granddaughter, Erika Broyles and husband Phil; and two grandsons, Jason and Erik, all of Springfield. Mary is also survived by several nieces, nephews. Mary was the last of ten children, all of her brothers and sisters preceding her in death. A celebration of life for Mary will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 5, 2018, with Pastor Gary Mitchener officiating, at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
