Mary Ellen Gray

Mary Ellen Gray, age 86, of Ozark, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016. She was born October 20, 1930 in Douglas County, Missouri, the daughter of Jason and Hazel (Sharpton) Lakey. On November 22, 1947, she and Almus Roy Gray were united in marriage. As a caring grandmother, Mary Ellen spent many hours every day with her disabled granddaughter, Karri. She attended James River Church. As a wonderful seamstress she made dresses for her granddaughters and clothes for her porcelain dolls. She was lovingly called "Nanny" by family and friends. Her husband, Almus, preceded her in death in 1993. Three brothers also preceded her in death, Doyle, Curtis, and Dallas Lakey. Survivors include: Her son, Harold Gray and wife Nancy, of Ozark; two granddaughters, Kristi Lyon and husband Jess, and Karri Blansit, all of Ozark; four great-grandchildren, Chandler, Olivia, and Tyler Lyon, and Moriah Blansit; and a brother, Don Lakey of Sparta. A graveside funeral will be 10:00 AM Thursday, November 3, in Weaver Cemetery, Ozark with Pastor Troy and Marylou Lyon officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
