Marvin "Bud" Gothard went to his heavenly home December 11, 2020. He was born in Freeport, IL June 26, 1942, the son of Marvin C. and Marian Raab Gothard , a graduate of Lanark High School, 1960.
He married Marilyn Knox on October 12, 1962, they have 2 sons, Dan of Nixa, MO and Dave (Nic) Gothard Tiskilwas IL, 4 grandchildren Cody, Lindsey and Mackenzie, Jessica (Brock) Schmitt, 2 great grandchildren Landon and Braxton Tiskilwa, IL a sister Letha (Alan) Rahn of Lallnark, IL and a brother Delmar of Lanark, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Marian, a brother in-law Spencer J. Knox and a sister Elain Garner and a very special friend "Dottie Bear."
Bud was an avid horseman, raising and training many blue ribbon winners, he showed his horses in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Texas and Arizona. Bud worked at General Electric, Northwestern Steel, and Spencer's Automotive. He moved to Missouri in 1999, they fell in love with this area and have been here ever since. He went to work for "Silver Dollar City" campground and was instrumental in the building of the campground cabins.
Bud was a life long member of the Methodist Church, first in Lanark and then here at Aldersgate. He was wit-tie and really enjoyed a good joke, he never new a stranger. There was nothing he couldn't build or repair, he took great pride in his work and his family. Bud enjoyed working in the kitchen on Wednesday night dinners and also was fond of Pastors Phil Bible Study.
