Martha Jean Young, age 86, of Ozark, passed away Friday, August 25, 2023. She was born August 10, 1937 in Lebanon, Missouri, the daughter of Onell and Lillian (Douglass) Carter. On September 4, 1955 she and Ronald Dean Young were married. High School sweethearts, they never dated another after they met when she was 16 and he was 18.
Martha was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years, and received her master's degree from MSU. Most of her career was teaching in the Ozark School District, retiring in 1998. Ron and Martha loved to travel, especially to Florida with their kids and grandkids, Gatlinburg, and cruises. She enjoyed embroidery, quilting and scrap-booking. Loving the Lord came first for both Martha and Ron. They were devoted to Ozark First Baptist Church, where they volunteered and studied the Bible. Their family was very important and they loved each member. Spending time with family at the beach, going to Silver Dollar City together was so much fun for all of them.
