Martha Lou (Akins) Townsley, age 69, of Sparta, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012. She was born March 24, 1943, in Lead Hill, Arkansas, the daughter of Wilburn Milt Akins and Elsie Austin Akins. On October 25, 1962, she and Grant Townsley were united in marriage. Lou loved her family, and enjoyed sewing, shopping and garage sales. She was always a giving person, helping family and friends. She most recently served as receptionist for the Ozark Senior Center. Survivors include: Two children, Rebecca Burkhart and husband Alan of Chadwick, and Jimmy Townsley of Sparta; four grandchildren, Amber Parker and husband Reuben of Oldfield, Dustin Burkhart and wife Rachel of Chadwick, Autumn Maggard and husband Chance of Sparta, and Abagail Townsley of Sparta; nine great-grandchildren, Hannah, Natalie, Chloe, Olivia, Annie, Millie, Bo, Bryson, and Sydney; a sister, Wanda Long and husband George of Lead Hill, Arkansas; two brothers, Jack Akins and wife Louise of Yellville, Arkansas, and Joe Akins of Arnet, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors, Miss Norma, Rick, Michelle and Brooklyn, Tom and Lynn. She was preceded in death by her husband Grant in 2003, her parents, and three brothers, W.M. "Sleepy"� Akins, Bob Akins, and Danny Akins. Funeral services will 12:00 noon Wednesday, November 21, in Chadwick Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
