Marlene Suzanna Baty, age 64, of Nixa passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in her home with her husband and her son by her side. She was born February 14, 1953 in Glasgow, Scotland to Merle and Eva (Strominger) Reimer.
Marlene's father was a career member of the U. S. Air Force and she grew up seeing many parts of the world. She graduated from Goodrich High School in Fon-du-lac, Wisconsin in 1971. Marlene trained and spent many years as a specialty dental assistant, serving many Army Soldiers as a member of the civil service. Taking care of America's service members was her passion. Married to an Army Officer, she was also involved Officer's Wives Clubs providing aid to Army spouses of the units to which her husband was assigned. Marlene loved to dance and danced ballet most of her life. After retirement she became involved with Yoga classes, and she participated in a book club. Marlene loved gardening and flowers and had a special attachment to sunflowers. She always had her home decorated for each season which made her home a special place for her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
Marlene is survived by her husband David, of 24 years; her four sons and daughters-in-law Travis and Laurie Buzzell, Travis and Renee Baty, Brad and Kim Baty, and David and Joanna Baty; seven grandchildren Tyler, Brittany, Devin, Koen, Blake, Ainsley, and Ethan; and many relatives and friends.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, November 16, 2017 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
