Mark Aaron Houk, age 48, was born on September 26, 1966 to Lawrence and Betty Moon. In 1971 he was adopted by his father, Fred Houk.
Mark was a driven man and had many accomplishments, including: being a champion power lifter, chess master, and black belt in Judo. He was an avid reader, writer, and a scholar. Mark served his country in the U.S. Air Force, and worked by trade as a Master Technician for Lexus.
He loved and continuously strove for truth and understanding in all matters of life. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his parents, Betty and Fred; his mother-in-law, Nancy; his children, Rayna, Michael, and Daniel; his step-children, Joshua, Sativa, Dagan, Sydney, and Chelsea; and a grandson, Jeremiah. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Josiah, Ashley, Jon, Megan, Colin, and Jesse, with whom he had a close relationship and served as a mentor; his brothers and sisters, Julie, Dawn, Kenny, Deborah, Dana, David, and Rachel; and the families of his siblings. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Samuel.
Mark was a light to the world. He passed to a higher place on September 15, 2015.
A celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 5th, at Christ Church Unity 2214 E. Seminole, Springfield.
