Marion John Halbersma, age 59, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014. He was born June 15, 1955 in Slayton, Minnesota, the son of Howard Bernard Halbersma, and Johanna (Peters) Halbersma. On November 11, 1989 he and Teresa (Brewen) Martin were united in marriage. He was a member of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church in Springfield.
Marion was a carpenter whose work is found throughout the United States. He was a master at his work, crafting wood into works of art for others to enjoy.
A dedicated and passionate fisherman, Marion enjoyed not only the sport and competition of fishing, but the closeness it brought to his family and friends. Marion still proudly owned his first car, a red '64 Chevy.
Marion is survived by the family he loved so much: His wife, Teresa; his son, Brennan Halbersma of Overland Park, Kansas; a brother, Harlan Halbersma of Litchfield, Minnesota; a brother-in-law, Rodney Van Peursem of Boise, Idaho; nieces and nephews, Dan and Rachel Halbersma, Brent and Kristen Halbersma, Darren and Bridget Halbersma, Shelli Halbersma, Chad and Rachel Van Peursem, Chystal and Nate Stutzke, and Travis and Amanda Van Peursem.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Marylis Van Peursem.
Funeral services will be 11:00AM Monday, July 14, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Greg Ellis officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00AM until service time on Monday.
Burial will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 16, in Chandler Memorial Cemetery, Chandler, Minnesota.
