Marian Matthews

Marian Elizabeth Matthews, age 80, of Ozark, passed away in her home Tuesday, April 19, 2022.  She was born November 19, 1941 in Joplin, the only child of Leonard and Mildred (DeWitt) Pond.  Marian was a graduate of Crane High School and attended John Brown University. 

Marian worked for Christian County for 39 years before retirement.  She was bookkeeper for the Assessor’s Office, Clerk and Collectors offices.  On August 3, 1975 Marian and Roland Eugene Matthews were married.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  Marian loved the Lord and was presently a member of Boulevard Baptist Church in Springfield.  Wherever Marian attended she played the piano and enjoyed playing all her life.  Crocheting was a favorite hobby of Marian’s.  She loved her family and especially cherished her grandchildren. She will be missed by each family member.

Survivors include:  Her husband, Roland;  four children, Jeff Tatum (Lisa) of Ozark, Steven Tatum of Ozark, Kelly Usher of Reno, NV, and Jill Matthews (Randy Johns) of Ozark; grandchildren, Lacey (Rick) Stacey, Justin Tatum, Stephanie (Spencer) Mather, Ryan Tatum, Kelsey Usher, Kaden Graves, and Kanon Graves; eight great-grandchildren; and many friends from her community and church.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all those who helped lovingly care for Marian.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, April 23, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Doug Shivers officiating.  Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Ozark.  Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, April 22, in the funeral home.
