Margerie Sue “Margie” Rollings, age 70, of Spokane, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021. She was born April 17, 1950 in Highlandville, the daughter of Ralph and Minnie (Cutbirth) Ellingsworth. Her parents preceded her in death. Margie was valedictorian of the 1968 Spokane High School graduating class. On July 12, 1968 she and Lewis Dean Rollings were united in marriage. Lewis preceded Margie in death in 1997.
Margie was always busy, and willing to help in any way. She was Spokane School’s first female bus driver, serving for almost 40 years. She also had owned a day care for 3 years. She and Lewis worked as dairy farmers before they owned and operated a trucking company, hauling cattle and hay. Margie served as general manager and bookkeeper for the company.
Margie was a wonderful cook and collected recipes. The family looked forward to eating together and sharing Margie’s contagious laughter. Her wonderful humor always made others feel welcome.
Survivors include: Two children, Terri Goodall and husband Chris, and Jeff Rollings, all of Spokane; grandchildren, Easton Rollings, Jordyn Rollings, Grayson Goodall, and Logan Rollings; daughter-in-law, Mandi Rollings; two brothers, Robert “Bob” Ellingsworth and wife Connie, and Larry Ellingsworth and wife Claire; two brothers-in-law Ray Rollings and wife Pam, and Rick Rollings and wife Susie; two sisters-in-law Gayle Thom and husband Kevin, and Sue Brashears and husband Jack; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, April 2, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor Jamie Bilyeu officiating. Burial will follow in Spokane Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Margie’s name to Spokane Cemetery, 1236 Sassafras Road, Spokane, MO 65754.
