Marcella Jean Blackburn, age 80, of Nixa passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2021. She was born December 10, 1940 to Everett and Lois (Keltner) Eisenhour in California. She married Lynn Doyle Blackburn October 19, 1973. They were married 42 years until his death in 2015.
Marcella grew up in Springfield. She was a homemaker while her children were young. She went to work for her father’s real estate company, Eisenhour Realty, as a real estate broker in 1969. Marcella was an entrepreneur and a hard worker. Later in her life she retired from Cox hospital as their volunteer coordinator for the coffee shops.
Marcella was a dedicated Christian and served the Lord at the First Baptist Church of Nixa. She taught the Senior Ladies Sunday School class for many years.
Marcella started her ministry, Grandma’s Angels in 2005, which provided hundreds of blankets to foster children in the surrounding counties. Her ministry grew for years and her passion spread like fire to provide shoes, bibles and so much more. Marcella was passionate about having a servant’s heart and a giving soul for the sake of the Gospel. Her love for her family was immeasurable.
Marcella is survived by Her son Phillip Hawkins, his wife Gretchen of Republic; a daughter Tina Booth, her husband Randy of Nixa; a stepdaughter Jean Edwards of Springfield; grandchildren Kristy Ogden, her husband Matt of Nixa, Spencer Hawkins, his wife Kate Torrence, Angel Mooneyham, Sarah Mooneyham, Lily Booth, Chris Nicodemus, Amber Woods and Nick Edwards; great-grandchildren Asher Ogden, and Titus Ogden.
Marcella is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Doyle Blackburn; siblings Thelma Spivey, Maxine Pickel, Betty Waite, and Stephen Eisenhour.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 20, 2021 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. The Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, April 21, 2021. Burial will follow at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens, Springfield.
