Mafalda (Maffy) Thomas

Mafalda (Maffy) Medda Thomas, age 63, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013, in Springfield, Missouri. She was born to Bartolomeo Medda and Piccoli Antonieta Medda, October 14, 1949, in Sardinia, Italy, the youngest of 7 brothers and sisters. She was fluent in both Italian and the English languages. She met her husband who was serving in the United States Air Force while stationed in Italy. They married in Italy and returned to the United States in 1969 where they resided in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Her family moved to Sugar Land, Texas in 1981 where she was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. In 2009, she moved to Nixa, Missouri to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter. Maffy was a published poet/songwriter who also loved butterflies and flowers. She was very creative and artistic with music, poetry, artwork, crocheting and knitting. She was a very caring, giving person who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Ciao Bella, Maffy. She is survived by her son, Christopher Thomas, daughter, Denise Thompson, and husband Dallas Thompson, of Nixa, siblings Luigi Medda, Nina Medda, and Iole Medda, of Italy, and a grandchild, Suzannah Thompson of Nixa. Maffy is preceded in death by her parents, Bartolomeo Medda, Piccoli Antonieta, siblings, Nelo Medda, Ardelio Medda, and Lena Medda of Italy. A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013, from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with funeral services following at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
