Lynn Payne

Lynn Arthur Payne, age 88, of Ozark, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014. He was born August 31, 1926 in the Selmore Community, where he continued to live throughout his life, following a seven year residence in California during the 1950's. On October 14, 1944 he and Mattie Wallace were united in marriage. Lynn was a farmer. He was a long time active member of Selmore Christian Church. He had served on the Ozark Board of Education, and enjoyed hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed watching basketball on TV. Survivors include: His loving wife, Mattie; three daughters and their husband, Lynnette and Jerry Bryant of Nixa, Cynthia and Richard Gummow of Juneau, Alaska, and Dixie and Jim Harrington of Ozark; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet Johns and husband Ronnie, of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter Lana Payne; an infant daughter Polly Ann Payne, a sister Ella Mae Bishop, and his parents. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 27 at Selmore Christian Church with Pastor Bud Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM Saturday until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Selmore Christian Church.
