Lyle L. Potts was welcomed into heaven on March 20, 2020, at the age of 79. He was born on December 17, 1940, to Orvis and Venona Potts of LaCygne, Kansas. He grew up on a dairy farm and helped his family build a home which taught him a strong work ethic and many skills that he used throughout his life. He married Ruth Ann Pease on June 3, 1961. Lyle received his Bachelor of Science degree from Pittsburg State University and worked as a Certified Public Accountant until his retirement. Lyle started his career at Touche' Ross Bailey & Smart in Kansas City, Missouri. He later started his own practices in Minnesota, California and Missouri.
Lyle accepted the Lord, as his personal Savior, in Grade School. He was member of Second Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri. He served the Lord by being a Deacon, on Church Finance Committees, actively participating in his ABF (Adult Bible Fellowship), Visitation and Care Groups; He particularly loved helping the widows. He took part in having a Valentines Banquet for widows in California. He personally purchased corsages for each woman who attended…there were 100 plus. He made arrangements for each lady to be picked up and taken to the banquet. He wanted them to feel loved and special. He was very generous and had a BIG heart and will be greatly missed.
Lyle touched many lives while here on earth. He met his wife Ruthie in First grade. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage and raising their two daughters. Lyle enjoyed traveling with his family and took pride in his detailed itineraries. He was probably happiest spending time and joking around with family and friends, fishing, boating and doing woodworking.
Lyle is survived by his faithful wife Ruth Ann (Ruthie); Daughters, Brenda Potts of Hollister, Missouri, Jan (Guy) Campbell of Nixa, Missouri; five grandsons; Aaron (Marisa) Campbell, Fountain Valley, California, Sean (Jenny) Campbell, Albany, Oregon, Logan Campbell, Connor Campbell and Jack Campbell, Nixa, Missouri, and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Raymond Potts; and Sister Carol (Potts) Zellmer.
We look forward to sharing memories when we next cross paths and will continue to evaluate the situation for the future services to Celebrate his life.
A memorial service will be held at Second Baptist Church, Springfield, Missouri, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
There will also be a future service at Calvary Baptist Church, in LaCygne, Kansas, followed by his burial in LaCygne, Kansas.
