Luella Mae Long, age 88, of Ozark, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017. She was born August 16, 1928, in York, Nebraska, one of six children of Walter and Florence (Reisinger) Warren. In 1949 she and Dean Melvin Long were united in marriage. Together they had nine children. Even after living in Missouri for many years, Luella remained a Corn Husker fan.
She worked for the Christian County Library, and also as an OACAC bus driver. Known as "Grandma Long", Luella cared for many children throughout the years who loved her dearly. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church from 1965 until 2015. Luella then became a member of First Central Baptist Church in Highlandville, following her minister son, Bob.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dean, a daughter Shirley Maggard, an infant daughter LeeAnnette, a daughter-in-law Kaye Long, four brothers, a sister, and her parents.
Survivors include: seven children, Chuck Long and Polly of Cassville, Jim Long of Cassville, Tony Long and Debbie of Sparta, Bob Long and Tenah of Ozark, Doug Long of Cassville; Jeff Long and Sherry of Purdy, and Terri Evans of Cassville. A five generation family, Luella leaves over 50 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Jackie Neuenschwander.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, May 6, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery, south of Ozark. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Friday.
