Lucille Lett Jackson, formerly of East Prairie and Charleston, MO, passed away on June 4, 2017 at the age of 90. She was born on November 25, 1926 in Bertrand, MO, to Thomas LaFayette Lett and Minnie Evelyn Golightly, and baptized in the Bertrand Methodist Church. On August 26, 1943 she married William Wesley Jackson of East Prairie.
Lucille was an active lifelong member of the Methodist Church, serving as a Trustee on the Board of the Charleston United Methodist Church, where she also coordinated the "Feeding the Flock" fundraiser cookbook. She spent 40 years researching her family history, leaving behind a legacy for subsequent generations, and served as President and a Member of the Mississippi County Genealogical Society.
Lucille is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Lett (Liza) Jackson of Colorado; one sister, Ann Lett Britt of Sikeston; four grandchildren - Tami Jackson Henderson, Arlington, TN, Gregory Jackson, Patton, MO, Lori Jackson Aduddell, Nixa, MO, and Michael Jackson, Sikeston, MO; eight great grandchildren - Heath Henderson, Holli Henderson Howell, Haley Henderson Pounders, Hope Henderson, Matthew Jackson and Ashley Jackson Hall and Miles and Merideth Aduddell, three great great grandchildren - Chase and Mason Howell and Jameson Jackson; many nieces and nephews including two local nieces, Thomas Ann Britt and Janey Britt and two special great niece and nephews, Britt Story Shelby and Hetherington Story.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, William Lett Jackson; five sisters - Virginia DeWeese, Marie Hamrick, June Couch, Mary Jane Lucas, and Hattie Nell Lett; two brothers - Robert and John Lett; two half-sisters, Cora Dodge and Laura Lett; and three half-brothers - Fred, Hardy and Joseph Lett.
Graveside Services will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in memorial to the Mississippi County Library Genealogy Department.
