Luella Stewart

Luella Glossip daughter of Hub and Lura Glossip was born August 9, 1927, in Ponce de Leon, MO. She departed this life January 9, 2022, at the age of 94.

She was united in marriage to Verlin Patrick on October 9, 1947. They were married 24 years and to this union two children were born, Sherry Lee Ann Patrick (Allen) and Rodney Lee Patrick. Four grandchildren, Angel Allen, Tim Allen, Megan Clevenger, and Taylor Batterson.

After Verlin’s death in 1972, Luella was united in marriage to T.J. Stewart on June 19, 1980. They were married 17 years.

Luella was employed for nine years as Head Start teacher at Galena, MO. From 1974-1979 she was coordinator of Early Childhood Education for OACAC in Southwest Missouri.

Luella was preceded in death by her parents Hub and Lura Glossip, Verlin Patrick, T.J. Stewart, and granddaughter Angel Allen.

Her surviving family includes Sherry and Leon Allen from Ponce de Leon, MO., Rod and Leisha Patrick Ponce de Leon, MO., three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Stepdaughter Lori Davis and husband Robert from University Place, WA, step son Jeff Stewart and wife Gina from Lakebay, WA, Mike Stewart from Albuquerque, NM, step son Rick Stewart and wife Robin from Corralas, NM, eight step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

“Bambi” was a grandma to all.

Special thanks to Betty Tennis who was her companion, friend, and caretaker for nine years, and to Bradford Court Assisted Living for the excellent care they provided for Luella.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 pm Friday, January 14, 2022, at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will follow at Spokane Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Adams Funeral Home.
