Loretta Kay Reed

Loretta Kay Reed, age 69, of Highlandville, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014. She was born November 23, 1944 in Springfield, the daughter of Orvel and Edna (Forbes) Hembree. She was a 1962 graduate of Central High School, and was united in marriage to Gary Reed in 1965. Loretta was a Shelter Insurance Agent for 32 years before retirement in 2012. She was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed gospel music. Loretta was a member of Hopedale Baptist Church, and was currently attending Highlandville Baptist Church. Her grandchildren loved her and they enjoyed baking cookies together. Survivors include: Two children, Bryan Reed of Galena, and Shawna Oberhansly and husband Wade of Nixa; four grandchildren, Tim Reed, Kersten Reed, McKenzie Pratt and Hailey Pratt; a great-grandchild, Venah; her wonderful companion Gerald Yarnell of the home; a lifelong friend Willie Belt; and a former son-in-law, Scott Pratt and family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gary in 2005. A memorial service will be 6:00 PM Thursday, August 28, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor Leslie Day officiating. Burial will be in Jones-Chastain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the family.
