Lona Mae Clemons

Lona Mae (Ellingsworth) Clemons, age 91 of Marshfield, died December 16, 2023. She was born July 7, 1932 in Highlandville, Missouri, the the daughter of Elmer and Bertha (Davis) Ellingsworth.

In 1952 Lona was united in marriage to Dewey Short “Bill” Clemons, who preceded her in death on August 1, 2005.

Survivors include: two daughters, Brenda Maples of Springfield and Debra Polk of Nixa, a son, Dewayne Clemons and wife Diana of Niangua; four grandchildren, Cindy Maples, Lisa Johnson, Chris Polk and Gary Agee; and eight great grandchildren, Sierra, Alexis, Aaron, Trenton, Emma, Maylee, Michael and Christopher.

In addition to her husband, Lona was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Roberts in 2004; a son, David Clemons in 2011; and her siblings, Ralph Ellingsworth and Alta Reeves.

Lona was a homemaker and enjoyed square dancing, two stepping, and visiting the Grand Old Opry. In her later years she spent her time doing word searches, watching Wheel of Fortune, Andy Griffith and Price Is Right. Lona's favorite dessert was ice cream and said, “There is no bad ice cream.”

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa with Doug Sampley officiating. Burial will follow in Jones-Chastain Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 1:00 p.m. immediately before the funeral in the funeral home.
