Lois Jane Parson, age 90, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Lois was born April 3, 1931, in Jackson County, Missouri to Mary E. “Betty” (Wertecet) and Lester S. Parson.
Lois graduated from Lebanon High School, Lebanon, Missouri, attending Draughn’s Business College, Springfield, Missouri, after graduation. She then worked for a short time at Marx Clothing Company on St. Louis Street before beginning at Meeks Lumber Company. Lois started as a personal assistant to owner/founder Charles C. Meek in 1954, and retired from her position as Executive Assistant to Terry Meek in 2015, after 61 years with the company. She was a valued employee and a cherished “family” member to the entire Meek family.
Lois enjoyed traveling, attending Lady Bears’ games and dining out with family and close friends. She also found pleasure in flower gardening and baking special desserts for family gatherings.
Lois was a longtime member of Ozark Christian Church, Ozark, Missouri, serving many years as Treasurer of the Board, and as a Trustee. She also served in various other capacities and on church committees throughout the years, but especially enjoyed church dinners and being able to socialize with the other members.
Survivors include her aunt Kathryn Parson; cousins Sharon (Tom) Barrow, Marvin (Nancy) Parson, Bonnie (Terry) Stine, Bill Parson (Wanda Rogers), Cheryl (John) Wright, and Gina (Donnie) Moseby; a host of extended family and friends, including her best friend of almost 70 years, Rosie Fellin. Lois was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to thank The Manor at Elfindale staff for the loving care given to Lois over the past two years.
A private family graveside service will be held at Pembina Cemetery, Rogersville, Missouri. Friends may drop in from 4-6 P.M. Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ozark Christian Church, 1200 E. McCracken, Ozark, Missouri 65721, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
