Lloyd Norbert Burdick, age 66, of Springfield, MO, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at James River Care and Rehabilitation. Lloyd was born to Sergeant Robert Edward Burdick and Margarete Dorothea (Siebenhaar) Burdick on December 23, 1947 at Mainz-Kastel, Germany. He lived in Germany for a few years and moved to the United States of America as a young boy and remained in the States for the duration of his life.
Lloyd was well traveled throughout the States and made Missouri his final home approximately 20 years ago. He loved to laugh and make others laugh as well. He enjoyed baseball and taking his sons to the St. Louis Rams and Cardinals games. He was a fan of the Braves, Celtics, Cowboys, and Cardinals. He also enjoyed reading, darts, pool, jeopardy, music, cars, and playing games with his family. He loved his family and especially enjoyed being a grandfather.
His greatest moment in life was the moment he accepted Jesus Christ into his heart, approximately one year ago and has an amazing testimony. He spoke of the joy that he has never felt before and the peace and comfort during his last year as he struggled with life and the declination of his health. He, many times, would speak of how God was with him and helping him during all of his struggles in the last year. Six days before he passed away, he told his daughter that he felt like God was getting ready to call him home. Today, with confidence, it can be said that he is in Heaven singing and rejoicing, never to experience pain and sorrow again.
Lloyd is survived by his children Bryan, Keith and Nick Burdick of Dallas, Texas, Matthew and Mitchell Burdick and Miriah Burdick-Menditto, and her husband Jesse of Nixa; grandchildren Cassie and Colson Burdick of Dallas, Texas and Logan Burdick, Josilynn and Elisha Menditto of Nixa.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents.
Lloyd requested to be cremated and his ashes buried on top of his grandson Josiah Menditto's grave at Glenn Cemetery in Nixa. A small closed memorial service will be held at graveside.
