Leslie James Carpenter, known to most Porkchop, passed away Monday June 19 after having a stroke June 12. He was born December 28th 1979 in Springfield Missouri to Keith Carpenter and Carol Ripley(Vest).
Most of his life was spent in or around the Springfield area but at times he lived in Salina Kansas Kansas City, Bolivar, and in recent years in Greenfield Missouri.
Leslie's greatest accomplishment in life was his children. He would regularly express that if anything happened to him he wanted everyone to make sure his children knew how much he loved them with all his heart. For those who knew Porkchop, he was larger than life, did nothing short of grand, and was fiercely protective of those he loved. He had a passion for helping others and was only a phone call away if someone called for help. He would make sure if you were hungry, he would feed you, if you needed a place to do laundry our washer and dryer was always opened, and if there was ever a situation that someone needed to get out of he would drop everything and come pick you up.
He touched so many hearts over the years. It never ceased to amaze us when we would be traveling or away from home in other states that people that we met ways knew of him. He was a true legend and leaves behind a legacy that will be talked about for years to come. Leslie feared that he wouldn't be welcomed into the pearly gates but I know in my heart without a doubt that after being a savior so many times for so many people that he is with God in heaven and is watching over us all.
Porkchop thought for many years that a man was measured by how tough he was but it was just recently in the weeks before his passing that he finally realized that a man is measured by the love he shares with the world and the love he gives to those closest to him.
Leslie is preceeded in death by his father, Keith Carpenter and is survived by his fiancee Andrea Clinton of Nixa, 8 children Dakota Dunk of Springfield, Cheyenne Carpenter of Rogersville, Gracie Wendel of Kansas City, James Carpenter of Republic, Nova Carpenter of Nixa, Niklas Carpenter of NIXA, Kingsley Carpenter of Nevada, and one unborn child; 3 Grandchildren; his Brothers in Arms Niklas Mitchell and Milton Sparks; mother Carol Ripley of Rogersville; closest siblings: Jimmy Carpenter of Florida, Kendra and Jose Gonzales of Colorado, Brenda and James Hall of Wyoming, Toby and Nikki Vest of Branson Missouri, Donnie Willard of Kansas, Mike Sawyer of Brookline, Missouri, Terry Carpenter of Louisiana, Helen and James Miles of Rogersville Missouri and Buddy and Kelly Carpenter of Minneapolis Kansas, Brandy Carpenter of Kansas, and Brandon Carpenter of Kansas along with many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
