LeRoy Taylor

July 15, 1941 — April 20, 2025

Ozark

David LeRoy Taylor, age 83 of Ozark, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 20, 2025. He was born on July 15, 1941 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

LeRoy was a devout Christian, Gideon, Dad, PaPa, Outdoorsman, teacher, best friend to many and…those that really knew him - A Story Teller.

In his younger years as a teacher and known as Mr. T., he taught Mathematics and Industrial Arts, ultimately retiring from Strafford, Missouri.

There wasn’t a hunting season that LeRoy wasn’t excited for and was always planning for the next one. When he wasn’t hunting or fishing or telling stories about them (and boy did he LOVE telling stories), he was likely at one of his son’s sporting events or practice or perhaps telling stories about them.

After retirement, he found he was just as busy, if not busier, attending his son’s, grandson’s and granddaughter’s sporting events, school events, taking them hunting and fishing and always…found time…to tell stories about them.

He was always active in church whenever the doors were open by serving as a deacon at Prospect Baptist Church in Ozark. LeRoy was also a very active member of Gideons International for many, many years.

On Sunday, April 20th, the Lord called him home and said, “Let’s Go Home, PaPa.”

LeRoy is currently chasing turkeys in Heaven and planning to go fishing soon with his dad. He is most likely telling stories about them too.

LeRoy is survived by his sister, Iona Ellis (David), brothers Tom Taylor (Sue), and Jim Taylor (Sandra); sons, Les Hires (Faye), Jon Taylor (Carol), David Taylor (Amanda), and Bobby Taylor; his grandchildren, Cody Hires, Jeremy Koomsa, Aloni Taylor, Ian Taylor, Madelyn Taylor, Drake Taylor, Faith Taylor, Justin Taylor and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Gideons International for memorial Bibles https://www.gideons.org/donate or to Prospect Baptist Church in Ozark where he attended for over 45 years.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2025 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, for LeRoy Taylor, with Pastor Jeff Updegraff officiating.

Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
