Leonard Metz, 84, of Springfield, passed away on March 24, 2018. He was born April 1, 1933 in Neeleyville, MO. The family moved to Fulton MO and later to Springfield. Leonard graduated from Senior High School and joined the U.S. Navy afterwards. He served during the Korean War. After his service, Leonard became a plumber-pipefitter and member of Local 178. He continued his education at Purdue University and became an instructor for Local 178. He also became a swimming official, officiating many meets at the AAU, high school and college levels. He enjoyed golfing, watching Cardinals baseball and fishing on Pomme de Terre Lake.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Nancy; his sons; Mike, Rodney (Lisa), Eric (Kim) and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Lexie; siblings Della, Carl, Charles and Wanda Jo Metz, mother of his sons.
