Leonard John Bedwell, age 77, of Ozark, passed away November 4, 2017. He was born February 16, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Paul and Edna (Grimm) Bedwell. Leonard served his county in the U.S. Navy. He joined in 1960, and after several tours in Vietnam, he retired following 20 years of service. Following retirement, Leonard was employed by the Civil Service as a jet engine mechanic at Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, California during Desert Storm. On August 3, 1992, he and Barbara Jane were married.
Leonard was a life member of V.F.W., American Legion, Fleet Reserve Association, and Elks Lodge. Leonard's hobby was woodworking and he was a master of furniture construction and lawn art which he sold at the annual Ozark Craft Fair.
Survivors include: His wife, Barbara; children, Scott Len Bedwell and Letty of Chula Vista, California, Cynthia Ann Stickradt and Karl of Monument, Colorado, Karen Powell and Scott of Ozark, and Desirae Bedwell and Michael Fuller, of Springfield; grandchildren, Al Aguilar, Cody Stickradt, Kacy Stickradt, Amy Dennis and Christopher, Joshua Powell, and Savanah Powell; great-grandchildren, Oliver Stickradt, Tanner, Tyson, and Gabriel Dennis; two sisters, Jackie Archer and Sandy Fullgrabe and Herman; a brother, Paul Bedwell; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Tyler Stickradt, a brother-in-law Phil Archer, and a sister-in-law Peggy Bedwell.
A graveside memorial service with military honors will be 2:00 PM Friday, November 17, in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark
