Leona Marie (Wood) Chesnut, daughter of William Jacob Wood and Ethel Mae (Hammond) Wood was born on March 16, 1928 in Wesley, Iowa. She departed this life on April 1, 2013 in her home surrounded by her family.
Leona was baptized at the Woden Methodist Church on June 10, 1928. She graduated from Woden High School in 1946. On July 18, 1948 she married Chuck Chesnut in the Methodist Church in Woden, Iowa. Together they built their lives in Iowa, Las Vegas, Nevada and finally settling in Springfield, Mo. She loved to spend time with her family, read and play the organ. She was a member of the Seminole Baptist Temple and the Lowry Life Members Club.
Leona is survived by her two daughters, Cheri (Jerry) Fielder, Cindy (Delmar) Cline. Six grandchildren, Michael Jackson, Nancy (Barry) White, Kari (Ryan) Reichert, Todd Cline, Dustin (Staci) Cline, Jeremiah (Sarah) Cline. Thirteen great grandchildren, Nicholas Jackson, Nathan Jackson, Karissa White, Jacob White, Ashlyn White, Logan Reichert, Andrew Reichert, Abbey Reichert, Brandon Cline, Corey Cline, Chance Cline, Lilly Cline, Ryder Cline and a new baby due in September 2013 to Dustin and Staci Cline. Five sisters, Lois Hanna, Lorraine Naser, Lola Wittmeier, LaDonna (Don) Gigler, Linda (Ken) Dewaard . Three brothers Don (Ardith) Wood, William (Faith) Wood, Larry (Betty) Wood, brother in law, Don Isebrand, sister in law, Hazel Wood, Rose Chesnut, Anna Jane (Chesnut) Roe. Step grandchildren Melissa (Fielder) Limpus, Tracy (Fielder) Cornell, step great grandchildren Madison Limpus, Kaeden Cornell as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ethel Wood, husband, Chuck Chesnut, an infant granddaughter, Rene Susan, sister LaVonne Isebrand, brothers Richard Wood, Eugene Wood, brother in laws, Alvin Hanna, Wayne Naser and Gary Wittmeier, Gene Chesnut, John Chesnut, Roy Chesnut, Al Martin, Gene Vaughn, Ray Roe, sister in law Evelyn Chesnut, Frances Chesnut, Melba (Chesnut) Vaughn, Juanita (Chesnut) Martin.
