Leon Sawyer

Everett Leon Sawyer, age 73, of Ozark, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016. He was born August 23, 1942. On December 2, 1961 he and Nancy Sue Stafford were united in marriage. Leon loved his Lord and spread the work of God to those he met. He was a member of Kingsway Free Will Baptist Church in Springfield. He enjoyed singing and playing guitar. He loved his family and often made homemade ice cream for them. Leon was always ready to catch a few bass when the opportunity arrived. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, in 2014. He was also preceded in death by a son, Tommy Ray Sawyer, in 1992, and his father. Survivors include: Two sons, Jeff Sawyer and Shela Mills of Sparta, and Richard Sawyer of Ozark; grandchildren, Ashley Nicole, Jessica Lynn, Jonathon Leon, and Allen Ray Sawyer; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Mason and Jayden; his mother, Dorothy Cain; and four brothers, Mike Sawyer, Shelvin Sawyer, Jerry Cain and Bobby Cain. A funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 16, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Derek Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Hopedale Cemetery, Ozark. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 7:30 PM Monday in the funeral home.
