Leon Maples, age 52, of Highlandville, passed away Monday, January 17, 2011. He was born November 9, 1958, the son of Dearl and Norma Jean (Linebaugh) Maples. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves.
Leon lived most of his life in the Highlandville area. He enjoyed horses and rodeos. He was always ready to play a joke on someone to lift their spirits. He was a good friend to many, and always available to help others whenever needed.
Survivors include: his son, Logan Maples, Fort Lewis, Washington: his daughter, Laken Maples, Ponce de Leon; his mother, Norma Jean Maples, Highlandville; a granddaughter, Cloe Ann Burk; two brothers, Roger Maples and Mark Maples, both of Highlandville; a niece, Jennifer Maples; two nephews, Brad Maples and Charles Maples; friends, neighbors and their children.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dearl; and grandparents, Loren and Velvie Maples, and Sam and Ella Linebaugh.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 22, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor George Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Tory Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
