Leola M. Freeman

Leola (Lee) Mae Freeman, age 85, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. She was born to Fred and Goldie (Clapp) Palmer in Ames, Iowa on February 9, 1929. She married Oliver Freeman in 1948 and they spent the next 58 years together. They moved to Nixa in 1990 to enjoy their retirement years, which they did. Oliver preceded her in death eight years ago. They were active members in the Christian County Elks Lodge. Lee was a member in good standing at Cassidy Methodist Church, Nixa. Lee was a people person and enjoyed interacting with people, whether it was serving food, bowling, or playing cards. Lee always made friends easily and was a pleasant person to be around. Lee is survived by her four children; Anita Brand, of Nixa, Jay Freeman (spouse Mary), Encinitas, CA, Gene Freeman (spouse Clara), of Simi Valley, CA, and Gary Freeman, of Simi Valley, CA; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her two sisters, Patricia Stephens, (spouse Robert), of Albuquerque, NM, Gloria Pullin (spouse Jack), of Independence, IA; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 15, 2014, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, December 14, 2014, in the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
